Sahara Ave. Bridge at Desert Rose Golf Course Closing for 6 Months | Transportation
Starting Saturday, the Sahara Avenue bridge over the Desert Rose Golf Course will be closed for about six months.
Crews will be bringing down the bridge, which is between Winterwood Boulevard and Sloan Lane, and replacing it with a longer bridge as part of the flood control project in the area.
Clark County, the City of Las Vegas and the Regional Flood Control District are working together to improve flood control in the Las Vegas Wash area.
The wash is being improved from Sloan Channel to Bonanza Road. The Flamingo Wash is being improved from the Las Vegas Wash to Nellis Boulevard. The changes will also include reconstruction of the Desert Rose Golf Course, which was heavily damaged during flooding two years ago.
The project aims to prevent the severe flooding the area has seen during monsoon seasons in the past.
Local and business traffic along Sahara Avenue will have access to the areas near the bridge, but other drivers are being asked to use detours at Nellis and Hollywood boulevards.
Pedestrians will be able to cross using a small temporary bridge.
