New Ramp Meters Set to Start Operating Thursday | Transportation
New ramp meters are set to start operating Thursday at several on ramps along two major freeways in southern Nevada.
Most of the ramp meters will only be active when there is heavy traffic; however, one ramp meter will be on regularly. The ramp meter at northbound I-515, commonly known as U.S. 95, and Charleston Boulevard will be on during prime commuting hours, which is 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m.
The other meters will be at north and southbound ramps along I-15 and I-515, mostly in the eastern and southwestern part of the Las Vegas valley.
The ramp meters have been used at busy ramps along I-15 and U.S. 95 for several years.
When the meters are on, drivers must obey the lights. One car per light, per lane is allowed to enter the ramp to merge into freeway traffic.
