Animal Foundation Keeps Lower Pricing for Certain Spay, Neuter Procedures

The Animal Foundation will continue its promotion offering lower-cost spay and neuter procedures for pit bulls and Chihuahuas through January 2012.

The promotion, originally slated to end December 31, has become so popular with pit bull and chihuahua owners that the staff at The Animal Foundation has decided to keep the extra-low pricing for another month.

"We have seen so many pit bull and Chihuahua owners take advantage of the promotional pricing, and we're thrilled," says Meghan Scheibe, assistant director of development for The Animal Foundation. "Our goal is to spay and neuter as many animals as possible to ultimately reduce the number of lost, unwanted, abandoned and unloved pets in Las Vegas. The pricing is definitely helping us do that."

The Animal Foundation opened its Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic last February and re-worked every price less than a month ago to provide a more affordable way for owners to spay or neuter their animals.

All four jurisdictions in southern Nevada passed mandatory spay/neuter ordinances in 2011, requiring that pet owners spay or neuter their animals. Owners who spay or neuter their animals will not only be complying with these ordinances, but will be providing healthier and happier lifestyles for their pets.

"Pets that are altered are less likely to roam and they tend to stay healthier," adds Scheibe. "It's our hope that by offering our low pricing to the community, we'll be able to foster a sense of responsible pet ownership that will undoubtedly lead to happier, healthier pets in homes, and fewer unwanted pets in the shelter."
