Police Arrest Woman for Deadly Stabbing

LAS VEGAS -- Police have arrested the girlfriend of a man stabbed to death Tuesday morning. Police arrested 29-year-old Chamel Smith for murder with a deadly weapon.

Witnesses say they heard a woman screaming at an apartment near Swenson Street and Twain Avenue. When police arrived, they found a man clinging to life.

One neighbor said she heard the screaming around 7 a.m. and thought it was the result of a domestic fight.

"My concern was maybe the gentleman was hitting the wife or the girlfriend. I wasn't sure what was really going on in that apartment. The only thing I was hearing was yelling and screaming," said Elizabeth Maldonado.

Initially paramedics were called to the apartment and when they arrived, they called for police. The man, who is in his 20's or 30's, was transported to Sunrise Hospital where he died.
