Metro shoots, kills dog after it attacks police K-9 | News
LAS VEGAS — A Metro Police K-9 was attacked Friday morning while officers were investigating a stolen car.
Police say they were called around 7 a.m. to the 6400 block of Spanish Garden Court, near Stewart Avenue and Fogg Street, about a suspicious vehicle. When officers arrived, two people took off from the car, which was reported stolen.
Metro said they were able to catch one of the suspects, but another took off and ran several blocks away to the south to the 100 block of Lailana Street, near Charleston Boulevard and Fogg Street. It was there that a dog attacked a police K-9.
Officers said they tried to get the dog off the K-9 but could not and shot the attacking dog. Both dogs were taken to the vet. The dog that was shot by police died.
The police K-9 is recovering. The other suspect was able to get away, police said.
