LAS VEGAS — An apartment fire on Monday morning sent large plumes of black smoke into the air that could be seen across the valley.

The two-alarm fire was reported after 9 a.m. on the 3800 block Calle Del Oro, near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and McLeod Drive in east Las Vegas.

The American Red Cross is assisting at least 10 people who live in the apartments.

It's unclear how the fire may have begun.

There are no word on injuries.
