LAS VEGAS - A man struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Thursday morning has been identified as 57-year-old Marlon Duane Collins by the Clark County coroner.

The crash happened shortly after 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of Sahara and Eastern avenues. Family members say Collins was on his way to work he he was hit.

Police say a vehicle traveling eastbound on Sahara struck Collins, who was in the crosswalk at the time. Police say the driver was speeding and ran a red light before striking him. 

Collins was transported to University Medical Center and died a short time later.

Police closed the intersection of Sahara at Eastern for four hours while they investigated.

Witnesses described the suspect's car as a dark colored 2013 or 2014 Nissan Sentra. Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers at (702)385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
