Overnight fire damages home

An overnight fire damaged a home near Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road Tuesday.

According to the Clark County Fire Department, dispatchers received word about the fire at around 2:30 a.m. Neighbors called to report that the house was on fire.

When crews arrived, they found smoke and flames coming from the roof of the home, which was vacant.

Crews worked to put out the fire from outside and inside the home. Firefighters cut ventilating holes in the roof, because the fire was mostly in the attic.

It took crews about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. It caused about $75,000 in damage to the roof and attic.

Fire investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
