Art Contest Winners Announced

The winners of the annual Earth Day art contest held by the Regional Transportation Commission were announced Friday.

There were two grand prizes awarded. The first went to Yazaret Arredondo and Rebecca Gort of Roy Martin Middle School. The second grand prize went to Crisann Bautista of West Prep School.

A community online vote determined the winners from nearly 100 submissions from nine schools around southern Nevada. The winning artworks will now be featured on the sides of 40-foot RTC transit vehicles for the next year. The theme of the contest was the RTC’s initiative of quicker, cleaner and greener.

“The inspired artwork of these talented students celebrates Earth Day and highlight the various options we have to promote sustainable transportation,”  Tina Quigley, RTC general manager, said.

The runners-up will have their artwork displayed on posters inside some RTC vehicles.  Runners-up included:

  • Jessica Lopez, Viviana Mandujano, William Gonzalez, and Kelsianna Lupton of Roy Martin Middle School
