More than 1,000 children and families in need were treated to a Thanksgiving day dinner thanks to several nonprofits and Piero's Italian Cuisine.
The chefs at the restaurant prepared about 350 pounds of turkey, 900 pounds of potatoes, 150 rolls and 200 pies for the guests. The servers included long-time Las Vegans who are frequent patrons of the historic restaurant, including former Las Vegas Mayor Ron Lurie.
"Boys and Girls Club and Piero's, we have been doing this for about 30 years it is really gratifying. We get to do something like this for the community to give back a little bit to some of the folks," Lurie said.
This is the 22nd annual turkey dinner that the restaurant has hosted.
