Taiko Drumming Ensemble Performing at Cultural Center

The powerful sounds of taiko drumming will fill the Winchester Cultural Center Tuesday.

The drumming will be led by Shuichiro Ueda, a musician known around the world for his skills and dynamic stage presence. Ueda will lead a 13-piece taiko drum ensemble known as Nioh/Nobushi. The ensemble is from Fukuoka, Japan.

Ueda started learning the art of taiko drumming after witnessing first hand its healing power when he was a teenager. The unique art form was used to help the people of his hometown of Kobe, following the devastating earthquake in 1995. Just last year, he used his talent to help console the people impacted by the massive earthquake, tsunami and nuclear catastrophe.

The concert is from 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 on the day of the show.
