Gold Medal flour recalled due to possible E. coli contamination

CNN — Making cookies with Gold Medal flour this week? It may be best to check the date before your bake.

On Monday, General Mills announced a voluntary recall of its Gold Medal Unbleached All Purpose Flour for possible E. coli O26 contamination.

The recall applies to five-pound bags stamped with a “better if used by” date of September 6, 2020. No other bags with other dates are affected.
No illnesses linked to the product have been confirmed yet, General Mills said.

This strain of E. coli usually sickens people within three to four days of exposure, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said. Its symptoms include diarrhea and cramps, and patients typically recover within a week... Read More

Red & Gold Zone: 49ers off to strong start with 2-0 season

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — This will be a big week for the Niners. After the 41-17 thrashing of the Bengals, San Francisco is off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2012.

Their offense is clicking right now, which was apparent after they amassed 572 yards against Cincinnati. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo accounted for 297 of those yards and threw three touchdowns. Both the offensive and defensive lines are playing well.

This week, the Niners will finally play a home game, as they host the Steelers this week.

‘Jeopardy!’ host Trebek says he’s resumed chemotherapy

NEW YORK (AP) — “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek says he’s had a setback in his battle with pancreatic cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy again.

Trebek told ABC’s “Good Morning America” on Tuesday that after a short period of optimism when he stopped chemotherapy, his “numbers shot up” and doctors ordered him back on the treatment.

The 79-year-old game show host announced in March that he had Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. But he hasn’t missed a day on the show, which tapes its episodes in advance.

Bloomberg Sources: Bellagio and MGM Grand sale may be in the works

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two iconic Vegas casinos and resorts reportedly may be sold to investment firm Blackstone Group Inc. The firm is in talks with MGM Resorts International to buy and lease back the Bellagio and MGM Las Vegas, sources with knowledge of the matter told Bloomberg.

The sources, who wished to remain anonymous due to the private nature of the matter, told the news agency both companies have yet to reach an agreement and one may not be reached at all. Details of the deal remain unclear.

Journalist Cokie Roberts dies at 75

ABC News journalist and political commentator Cokie Roberts has died at the age of 75. Her death was due to complications from breast cancer.

According to ABC News, “Roberts won countless awards, including three Emmys, throughout her decades-long career. She has been inducted into the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame and was cited by the American Women in Radio and Television as one of the 50 greatest women in the history of broadcasting. She was named a “Living Legend” by the Library of Congress in 2008.”
